Multiple application areas have an interest in pedestrian dynamics. These range from urban design of public areas to evacuation dynamics to effective product placement within a store. In Hoogendoorn et al [Hoogendoorn 2002] multiple abstractions utilized in simulations or calculations involving pedestrian agents include (1) cost models for selected route choice, (2) macroscopic pedestrian opera...
متن کاملMulti Exit Configuration of Mesoscopic Pedestrian Simulation
A mesoscopic approach to modeling pedestrian simulation with multiple exits is proposed in this paper. A floor field based on Qlearning Algorithm is used. Attractiveness of exits to pedestrian typically is based on shortest path. However, several factors may influence pedestrian choice of exits. Scenarios with multiple exits are presented and effect of Q-learning rewards system on navigation is...
متن کاملAgent-based Simulation of Pedestrian Evacuation in Virtual Geographic Environment
Agent-based model has found great interest in simulation of pedestrian evacuation since it better represent the intelligent and self-organized behavior patterns of pedestrians. However, model validation and the user’s cognitive perspective have always been the two challenges in agent-based simulation. Therefore, this paper presents an approach to implement agent-based simulation of pedestrian e...
متن کاملEmergent collective behaviors in a multi-agent reinforcement learning based pedestrian simulation
In this work, a Multi-agent Reinforcement Learning framework is used to get plausible simulations of pedestrians groups. In our framework, each virtual agent learns individually and independently to control its velocity inside a virtual environment. The case of study consists on the simulation of the crossing of two groups of embodied virtual agents inside a narrow corridor. This scenario permi...
